Taiwan is advancing global health by leveraging its world-class biomedical supply chains, robust healthcare system, and advanced ICT infrastructure. Across 23 leading medical centers, AI and big data are driving telemedicine, smart wards, AI-assisted diagnostics, and clinical decision support, earning recognition such as the 2023 HIMSS Davies Award and the 2024 Digital Health Indicator. At ITRI, the Biomedical Technology and Device Research Laboratories (BDL) integrate diverse technologies to accelerate biomedicine and device innovation, winning five R&D 100 Awards and seven Edison Awards. Through its Biomedical Innovation Interdisciplinary Collaboration Platform and Fast Track Clinical Trials, BDL supports startups, accelerates commercialization, and strengthens Taiwan’s smart healthcare ecosystem.
